How many times has it happened to you that daily life just swallows you whole, yet the signs keep showing up right in front of you, almost begging you to pause, breathe, and slow down? That’s exactly what we’ve been experiencing this past month. It’s beautiful and a little funny how, for us, Bear just keeps nudging us: “Hey, I’m right here. This is my spirit walking beside you.” So we’ve decided to keep listening and to dive deeper today into this magnificent animal who has so much to teach us.
Around the world, almost every culture attributes to Bear the gifts of protection and deep inner wisdom. In parts of Asia, Bear is seen as a divine messenger; in some European traditions, he embodies warrior strength and the mystery of lunar renewal.
But here, on this side of the world, drawing especially from the Seven Sacred Teachings honoured by many First Nations across Canada, Bear carries the teaching of Courage. He invites us to stand face-to-face with our fears and with our greatest opponent: ourselves. Only then can we truly hear the voice of our own heart and, with real bravery, choose what is right, first for ourselves, and through that choice, for everyone around us.
“Facing our fears can feel overwhelming, but we are asked to meet them with the same fierce love a mother bear shows when she protects her cub.”
Now that we feel clearer about what Bear’s spirit is calling us toward, we’ve asked him to walk with us as we finally turn and face some fears we’d been quietly avoiding.
And you… have you seen Bear lately? Felt him in a dream, heard his low rumble, or simply noticed him showing up again and again? If the answer is yes, can you sense which fear he’s asking you to meet with courage? Are you ready to take that step?
All you have to do is ask. Call on Bear’s spirit, and you’ll feel that ancient strength rising inside you, steady, warm, and unstoppable.
May Bear walk with you on every step of your path, reminding you that true courage is born the moment you choose to listen to your heart and keep moving forward with it wide open.
